The second episode of the highly anticipated show was filmed on board MSC Cruises’ beautiful cruise ship while sailing the Caribbean
MSC Divina is making her silver screen debut in the second installment of Amazon Prime Video’s highly anticipated anthology, The Romanoffs. MSC Divina appears in the second installment titled, “The Royal We,” which premiered Friday, October 12 on Prime Video. In the episode, a couple with their marriage in a rut find their own temptations. The episode prominently features MSC Cruises beautiful cruise ship, MSC Divina, as the storyline was filmed in part aboard the ship as she sailed the Caribbean.
The Romanoffs is created, written, directed and executive produced by nine-time Emmy award winner Matthew Weiner (Mad Men), featuring eight separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family. Set in seven countries around the globe, The Romanoffs was shot on location in three continents collaborating with local productions and creative talent across Europe, the Americas, and the Far East. Each story takes place in a new location with a new cast. The second episode, “The Royal We” brings an all-star line-up with Corey Stoll (House of Cards), Kerry Bishé (Argo), Janet Montgomery (This is Us) Noah Wyle (ER), and John Slattery (Mad Men) starring in the episode.
“We are beyond excited to be part of Matthew Weiner’s latest venture with Amazon Prime Video,” said Roberto Fusaro, President of MSC Cruises USA. “During the show’s second episode, our guests will certainly recognize several backdrops of MSC Divina, and as we continue to grow our presence in North America, this is a fantastic opportunity to introduce new guests to our beautiful ships and unique experience.”
Scenes were shot for the “The Royal We” over the course of 3-days during an actual guest sailing on MSC Divina and included key areas of the ship such as the main atrium with Swarovski crystal staircases, the outdoor infinity style Garden Pool, and the exclusive MSC Yacht Club.
In fact, with a total of 200 cast and crew staying on board the cruise ship, to avoid disrupting sailing guests many of the scenes were filmed in the middle of the night or at sunrise.
The Romanoffs is available initially in its original version in over 200 countries and territories, with dubbed foreign language versions coming in early 2019. Episodes one and two are available now for viewing on Amazon Prime Video, with the remaining episodes to be rolled out on a weekly basis.
